Description

The Art of Over the Garden Wall is a complete tour through the development and production of the hit animated miniseries Over the Garden Wall. Also includes commentary from creators Patrick McHale and Nick Cross, interviews with the cast and crew, and more! When I proposed an art book, I didn’t solely want to talk about the visuals—every element from the voice acting to the music and title card cut-outs is so carefully executed and fussed with; I wanted to celebrate every facet of the show.

If anyone has any idea where to find a copy, or if you have one you’d be willing to sell, I would be forever grateful for any leads! There is a very faint ridge in the binding itself on the rear of book that can be seen in photo, also not a scratch. Never-before-seen sketches and a comprehensive look at the production art behind the multiple-award-winning show! This handsome volume will contain a nice mixture of beautiful drawings and paintings from the series, amusing anecdotes about the process, unseen and unused artwork that didn't make the final cut, other mysterious odds and ends, and a whole lot of horrible ugly early development sketches that should inspire people to say, 'Hey, I could do better than that! Over the Garden Wall was first envisioned in 2004 with a scarier and more adventure-based storyline. We gather the finest references and tutorials, serving as a valuable resource for artists seeking to refine their skills and explore new techniques in character design. Seeing as it does not seem to be in print any longer, in either physical or ebook form, I uploaded it here. After creating a pilot episode, Tome of the Unknown: Harvest Melody, McHale and the network settled upon the miniseries format for the ensuing series, as McHale felt that it would lead to "something that felt higher quality than what we could do with a regular series". It was the very first thing I ever showed my partner, and I’ve been wanting to get it for our anniversary.
