In this version of the game, Harry gets caught by Professor Snape instead of Filch, and Harry's detention in the forest isn't the same as the book or movie. To Harry's surprise, Professor Quirinus Quirrell stands in the final room trying to extract the Philosopher's Stone from the Mirror of Erised. You step into Harry's shoes, initially moving from classroom to classroom learning new skills and spells, before indulging in activities such as sneaking out of your dormitory at night, fighting off trolls and having a quick game of Quidditch too. You'll have to work hard to succeed — there are 29 different objectives to complete, as well as obstacles and enemies to avoid. The beginning of the game seems to be packed with subgames and things to interact with, but this really peters out and by halfway through the story, there's very little to do except watch the cut scenes to get to the end. Baker and Amrich complained that the nighttime sequences were rendered too dark by the Game Boy Advance's lack of a backlight.
