A blend of all three champagne grapes with Chardonnay making up almost half, giving a delicate, fresh style with good citrus fruit and toasty notes. All those tiny bubbles trapped in a redcurrant and apple-flavoured alcoholic concoction so delicious, creamy and light, it's a wonder they want to escape. Their next great venture was Cuvee Rose, created in 1968, carefully selected Pinot Noir plots are sorted and destemmed before a period of maceration.Under de Nonancourt, Laurent-Perrier were the first House to use stainless-steel vats and the first House to create both a zero dosage champagne (Ultra Brut) and a non-vintage prestige cuvée (Grand Siècle). Michel Fauconnet 2004 - 2023 | Joined Laurent-Perrier in 1973, became the 3rd Cellar Master of the House, after respectively Edouard Leclerc in 1950 and Alain Terrier in 1983. It's made from Pinot exclusively from 10 of the finest villages including Ambonnay, Bouzy, Louvois, Aÿ and the house's home patch of Tours-sur-Marne. Reviving what had been a late nineteenth century move to dry rather than the previous fashion for sweeter wine, Laurent-Perrier is champion of very dry Champagnes, evolving from wood to stainless steel in production, together with its hallmark art of blending component elements. This technique gives it the highly expressive bouquet and fresh berry flavours that have made it a benchmark for rosé Champagnes.

The name “Laurent-Perrier” was created by Mathilde Emilie Perrier, widow of Eugène Laurent, who combined the two family names after the House was expanded. Laurent-Perrier had a successful harvest in 2018, a year which Chef de Cave Michel Fauconnet believes will most certainly produce a stunning vintage champagne and hopefully a strong Alexandra Rosé as well. One of Champagne's most important figures in the 20th century, he officially took over in 1948 after a three-year apprenticeship at the Houses of Delamotte and Lanson. Laurent-Perrier Champagne is based on the art of blending: the blending of grape varieties, the blending of Crus and the blending of years. Using the highest quality Pinot Noir grapes, this iconic rosé is one of the few rosé champagnes that is made by drawing the juice from black grapes in the vat, instead of blending red and white wines. Maceration, Vinification and Blending Grape varietal: For blending, only the musts of the cuvée are used, so only 80% of the grape juice is extracted from pressing. We tasted some rich and generous vins clairs with Chef de Cave Michel Fauconnet and sampled previews of upcoming Vintage 2008 and future Grand Siècle NV.
